What I learned at SAP Influencer Summit: Social Media can work!Since 2001 SAP has brought together its top influencers in a small intimate setting to share, and receive input on, its product strategy and direction. Last December’s event marked a major change in the ‘social’ coverage of the event where upwards of 50 SAP colleagues participated in leveraging social media to extend the reach of the event beyond the selected few that were invited to participate. Two-Way Street Between Analytics and Transactional DataIt wasn’t a surprise to see this prediction in CIO.com’s top 10 business predictions for 2011: “Real-time analytics will define and drive the real-time organization. As analytics is layered onto the megatrends of cloud, mobile and social, its capacity to create real-time businesses becomes closer than it appears.” In the social arena, Twitter plans to release a real-time analytics dashboard (possibly for free). Tweeters will be able to see what messages have a high number of retweets and conversely which ones don’t catch on. What’s assumed in the prediction is that analytics goes hand-in-hand with the data on which it is based – and not just that the data enables the analytics. This assumption was made explicit during the SME breakout session at the SAP Influencer Summit. |
