Checking in at the SAP Influencer Summit 2010: SAP Shows Its UI MojoAt the annual Influencer Summit that is happening at the Santa Clara Marriott on Dec 7-8, SAP showcased its Web 2.0 worthy user interface for SAP Business All-in-One, its flagship ERP product targeted at the mid-market. While the solution is a packaged version of components (e.g. SAP ERP) in the very successful large enterprise workhorse (SAP’s Business Suite), the UI was a lot like what one might have expected from a more SaaS-y offering. A lot has been said and written about the historical promise of CRM initiatives and how they failed to deliver the hyped-up transformational business benefits (to customers and vendors.) Then came along the hype of SaaS or Cloud as the manna for all past CRM evils from pure-play / standalone vendors like salesforce.com and others. Sure, SaaS has indeed transformed a lot of things about speed and ease of solution delivery as well as the short-term cost advantages.
