At the SAP Influencer Summit on Tuesday, the company touted its mobile milestones and achievements for 2011, while promising major upgrades and improvements to its mobile software. Safety First for Amazing Atos App

The environment, health and safety (EHS) issues that certain industries (i.e. oil and gas, chemical) must adhere to are wide-reaching and complex.  So imagine the potential efficiencies that could be gleaned for safety managers if they had the ability to react to an environment or industrial issues in real-time, from a mobile device. Guess what? Atos, a global SAP partner and customer has devised a very impressive mobile app prototype that does just that, earning them a first place mobility showcase award at SAPPHIRE NOW from Madrid. Doctor, Doctor Give Me the News

It was only five months ago that a team of people from Berlin’s Charité hospital met with a development group from SAP but quickly Charité saw an opportunity to improve patient care through mobile technology. In short order, the hospital became a pilot customer for the SAP Electronic Medical Record mobile app. Speaking at a panel discussion on The Mobilized Enterprise at SAPPHIRE NOW from Madrid, Martin Peuker, Charité’s CIO talked about the hospital’s vision of “personalized medicine” – a vision of enhancing the quality of patient treatment while making the clinical process more efficient. A Few Facts on Banking from SAP TechEd

At SAP TechEd today, I sat in a roundtable with Gerald Faust, SAP’s head of the Banking Industry Business Unit, who updated journalists from all over Latin America on latest trends and developments in the banking sector. What I didn’t know (most of you, however, probably do) is that banks are the top spenders when it comes to IT. Excluding hardware, banks worldwide spend approximately 140 billion EUR each year on their IT, mostly on application software, in-house development, and system integrators.
